Why do I invest in $SCHD?
In the long run, it’s unlikely that SCHD will consistently outperform the S&P500. However, SCHD doesn't have to be better than the S&P to be a worthwhile investment…
$SCHD Share Progress
With $SCHD hitting the weekly lows yesterday, I took the opportunity to add 10 more shares, bringing my total to 7,090.
With the recent dividend increase, my yield on cost is now well over 4%! 😁🤩🥳
Steady progress, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year…

I won’t try to pinpoint the macro reasons, those are tough to determine, even for people much smarter than me. But if you compare this year’s dividend growth rates across dividend ETFs, you’ll see that $SCHD far surpassed them (see below).
Why? Beyond targeting dividend growth, SCHD also “manufactures” it by replacing lower-yielding stocks with higher-yielders during its annual reconstitution. This can lead to the removal of some well-performing stocks (if price appreciation lowers their yield), but it’s also why SCHD’s dividend growth outpaces other ETFs—even when organic dividend growth is relatively slower.
📊 1-Year Dividend Growth Rates:
🔹 $SCHD: +12.23% 🚀
🔹 $DVY: +7.11%
🔹 $HDV: +5.69%
🔹 $VOO: +5.45%
🔹 $VIG: +5.33%
🔹 $DGRO: +5.24%
🔹 $NOBL: +2.58%
🔹 $SDY: +2.55%
🔹 $SPYD: +1.98%
🔹 $DGRW: +1.96%
🔹 $VYM: +0.47%
🔹 $DIVB: -5.36%
🔹 $FDVV: -7.66%
This strategic rebalancing is a key reason why SCHD’s dividend growth consistently stands above the rest.
This is just an estimate, and I could be wrong but last quarter, I was off by only $0.0017! Regardless, I’m confident we’re in for a significant increase. 💰😊
Another dividend increase that will be included in the next $SCHD payout in March.

📢 SCHD STAN $SCHD 2025 Q1 Dividend Payout Estimate:
💰 $0.2685 per share +31% from 2024 Q1 🤩
🔹 If accurate, this would mark a 31.8% YoY increase and a 6.5% rolling 12-month avg increase.
🔹 This would bring SCHD’s total annual payout to $1.0592/share, resulting in a 3.8% yield at today’s opening price of $27.87.
🔹 For comparison, the current yield at $27.87 is 3.57%.
$SCHD typically posts its distribution quietly, right around the ex-dividend date (Q1: March 26)—no announcement, no fanfare. But don’t worry, when it drops, I’ll post it and make sure it gets the full celebration it deserves!🎉
I’ll run another estimate as we get closer to the ex dividend date.
📌 Note: This is only an educated estimate based on summing individual payouts from SCHD’s holdings and factoring in allocation percentages on a sample date.
