The @haoailab recently used the popular video game "Ace Attorney" to benchmark AI LLMs on their reasoning abilities.
The lab has used other games, like Super Mario Bros., as well.

We are beyond honored and thrilled to welcome the amazing new @nvidia DGX B200 💚 at @HDSIUCSD@haoailab.
This generous gift from @nvidia is an incredible recognition and an opportunity for the UCSD MLSys community and @haoailab to push the boundaries of AI + System research. 💪
There is no fire pole to slide down at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (@SDSC_UCSD) at the School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences (@SCIDS_UCSD). Still, at the first sign of wildfire anywhere in California, members of the team are ready. ➡️ https://t.co/TOQ6A1ec3p
When Ilya Sutskever once explained why next-word prediction leads to intelligence, he made a metaphor: if you can piece together the clues and deduce the criminal’s name on the last page, you have a real understanding of the story. 🕵️♂️
Inspired by that idea, we turned to Ace Attorney to test AI's reasoning. It’s the perfect stage: the AI plays as a detective to collect clues, expose contradictions, and uncover the truth.
We put the latest top AI models—GPT-4.1, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Llama-4 Maverick, and more—to the test in Ace Attorney, to see if they could shout Objection! ⚖️, turn the case around, and uncover the truth behind the lies.

Five years after its release, Candy Crush Saga hit 2.7 billion downloads, becoming one of the most-played and highest-grossing mobile games ever. 📱✨
What makes it so addictive? Easy to learn, hard to master—it keeps players hooked for hours. Could its hidden demand for high-level reasoning be the key?
Time to challenge the world’s top AI reasoning models—let’s see how they handle this wildly popular “simple” game! 👇
Beyond thrilled 🚀 to see my lab's work DistServe (OSDI'24) just got featured in Jensen Huang's keynote at Nvidia GTC!
This marks our third major breakthrough in LLM inference after PagedAttention (vLLM) and Lookahead Decoding — pushing the frontier yet again!
Since we post the work on arxiv late 2023, its impact has been profound:
🔥 Mooncake (https://t.co/KQqi65OrHX) now powers serving with PD disaggregation
🔥 DeepSeek-V3 is leveraging an aggressive PD disaggregation scheme
🔥 Nvidia & PyTorch teams are actively developing architectures to amplify its benefits, check out Nvidia's latest Dynamo!
Our goal: Let's keep pushing LLM inference until it is free like a google search query!😃
Fun story: when I posted the tweet 1 year ago about THE THREE key system techniques about LLM inference https://t.co/9bqSC00m5t I haven't thought about there would be a fourth one😂😇

You might have heard top reasoning models now match AIME gold medalists in 2025 🏅, but watch them crumble in box-pushing Sokoban (倉庫番) from the 80s! 🧩
Again, we put top reasoning models into the game, o3-mini (medium) took the crown, reaching level 4 before tangled with just two boxes. 😵💫
Claude-3.7-thinking managed two levels, Deepseek-R1 cleared one level. Gemini-2.0-flash-thinking solved none.

The school focuses on developing artificial intelligence (#AI) and data science, enabling computers and machines to reason, learn, and behave like humans, and analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns and relationships.
The new school combines the strengths of two existing technological hubs on campus: the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (@HDSIUCSD) and the San Diego Supercomputer Center (@SDSC_UCSD).
HPWREN's sturdy fire-resistant cameras atop Santiago Peak captured images during the Airport Fire that helped researchers identify vorticity-driven lateral spread or VLS where a wildfire can spread in two directions.
Since its launch in January 2024, the NSF-led National Artificial Intelligence Resource Research pilot has expanded the potential of AI research nationwide by bringing cutting-edge AI resources to researchers and educators. https://t.co/B6zkBc0CjI
I'm thrilled to see so many interesting discussions under this WIRED story these two days. Just want to share an update that the Arxiv paper and full codebase are available now and can be found on our project website https://t.co/TKdUuA0b6G
