Palm oil, popular for its versatility and low cost and unpopular for its role in deforestation of tropical rainforests. Join us for our evening lecture on palm oil and the issues and questions surrounding its sustainability.
Winner of Young Lipid Scientist Award for 2021 goes to Chrysa Soteriou from University of Leeds for her presentation: "Dietary phytosterols impair oncogene signalling via modulation of membrane lipid properties". Congratulations Chrysa and also well done to the other presenters.
We are very pleased to announce the winner of the 2020 SCI Young Lipid Scientist Award is Helena Fisk of the University of Southampton. Her winning presentation was "Adipose tissue inflammation in human obesity and response to chronic marine omega-3 supplementation"
See the Young Lipid Scientist Award presentations online this Wed from 10.45am. Areas include omega-3, formulation, proteomics, drug delivery & signalling. For details see https://t.co/Zxt67dT7QV . You can also access the meeting free via this link https://t.co/GZcC2sRISV

Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil #RSPO have announced further criteria to combat deforestation. It may be taking time, but it is important to keep everyone on board. https://t.co/OLYn9ymLOi
Deforestation is not just an issue for palm oil, but for, e.g. soybean and cocoa. Ready to give up chocolate? Me neither! Colombia has become the first Latin American country to tackle the issue. We don't need to turn our backs on such crops, just gain control.
