Great reporting here from @SCJDollyB about one of the finalists for Sioux City police chief and an active gender discrimination lawsuit he's involved in:
I’m out but I am leaving you with this to ponder….Fever record and schedule (2024)
• 2022: 5-31 (Mitchell) They won 5 games out of 36 possibles with a current 2026 MVP candidate Kelsey Mitchell at the helm. (See stats below)
• 2023: 13-27 (Mitchell and Boston Rookie) Same numbers. Boston wins Rookie of the year. (See stats chart below for comparison.)
• 2024: Clark show arrives: 20-20 (perfect vision)(teammates weren’t ready) (Playoffs after a 7+ yr drought) (2 triple doubles. Breaks 63 records as a rookie. Won ROTY with one vote going to Angel Reese)
• 2025: Clark hurt: 24-20 (She contribute 7 crucial game wins) Commission Cup and second playoff appearance (Most wins in franchise history)(damn near new roster)(Few abysmal roster additions)(New coaching staff)
• 2026: 19-10 (Sits nearly at the top of the Eastern Conference) (on pace for most wins in Franchise history again) (Damn near new roster)
Look at the first 14 games of 2024. 11 straight with one day off between them and 2 back-to-backs. No one had that schedule then, before, or sense. They started off 0-5, then 1-8, finished 4-10 and made the playoffs after the second half of the season masterclass.
We tend to forget these facts. These are hardliners to overcome as a rookie and then as an injured Sophomore and injured Junior player. All while being assaulted, double-triple teamed, blitz by every player on other team, flagrantly fouled more than any other player ever, pushed, shoved, punched, eye poked, and throat punched. No landing space calls. No foul calls. Zero favorable whistle. Meanwhile, you’re the pawn of every talking point. CBA money negotiations. The reason for Revenue sharing received by players. Tee-shirt gate during All-Star. Nike subversion on your shoe deal. Endless slander week in and week out.
Yet, She still tried to get them extra money from the new sold out arena upgrades when she came to town.
At every turn, they have tried to diminish her, defame her name, and downplay her effectiveness. It was her organization. Her agent. Her team. Her coach, the totality of sports media, the refs, most other players, and teams, yet she has created all of this. All while breaking 30 yr records and setting new milestones to break week over week.
This is generational. This is what GOAT behavior is. This is called transcendent. No player in the history of Women Basketball did any of this. She packed arenas so much teams had to move to NBA arenas to accommodate the fans. Old and new.
(But Kelsey Mitchell is getting the shine from this team.)
Thank you @CaitlinClark22 for enjoyable Women Only basketball.
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it humorous that there's a large patch of ditch weed growing right by the turnoff into the Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center?
"Those cool kids on the Internet doing the cool kid chatter. Some of 'em might be the coastal elites, making fun of how I talk. They're making fun of Michigan. They're thinking they're better than us. Their jokes, and their criticism, only make me fight harder."

CyHawk Being Continued
I don’t like it - and I’m going to explain why in long form. (I’m excited to hear from the 7 ppl that actually read this!)
————————————
I grew up in Iowa and I’ll always consider myself an Iowan, even though I’ve lived outta state for half of my life.
Yes, when I was a kid, I was swept up by Hayden’s Hawks, and it certainly helped that he dominated ISU. And I saw this rivalry up close as a player, too.
For the past 25+ years, I’ve been a die-hard Iowa and College Football fan. Everyone that knows me understands what I’m doing on fall Saturdays. It’s in my DNA.
All through the 2000s and most of the 2010s - I found myself defending the CyHawk. I got angry when people listed the best CFB rivalries…and it was (almost) never listed. Heck, I called into sports talk shows to argue for it.
But over time…it got harder to defend.
Even as a Hawk, I understand that ISU - especially under Matt Campbell - had lessened that gap between the two programs. I get it, Clone fans.
But the reality is people outside of Iowa don’t pay attention, and they still see things through the lens of their youth. (We all do this.)
The big moment came in 2019: Iowa @ Iowa State. Gameday was there. I thought to myself: “This is it. This is the game that’s going to put the CyHawk on the map for CFB rivalries.”
ANNNND…Iowa won and nobody cared. It barely made the national highlights.
We got an even bigger crack at it 2 years later when both teams were ranked in the Top 10!!!
ANNNND…Iowa won and nobody cared.
I want to be clear: I think this is unfair to Iowa AND Iowa State. But again, it’s the reality.
(And things don’t look especially rosy for the future of ISU Football, either.)
Now we’re into the CFP Playoff era and things change every day. Oregon & Oregon St are all but done. Penn St & Pitt. Etc.
If the B1G indeed goes to a 10-game conference season - and perhaps a B1G-SEC challenge….I’ll ESPECIALLY want the CyHawk gone (or at least limited to 2 outta 4 years).
I sometimes wonder if ISU fans, who are obviously more keen to hold onto the CyHawk - have ever considered the benefits of them not playing this game anymore? Worth exploring.
That’s about it.
I’m not crying in my beer about it getting extended.
But I sure as sh*t ain’t popping any champagne, either.
Go Hawks!
A Caitlin Clark fan got spit on by an opposing fan last night. I hope the rest of the WNBA becomes accountable and self aware as they matriculate the sisterhood.
This is textbook McNutt deflection.
Clark made a simple, adult point: stop the card-stacking propaganda and report real events. McNutt's response was reframing what transpired instead of addressing Clark's point.
McNutt is a Ryan Clark clone. #firemcnutt@espn@espnW
Monica McNutt hears Caitlin Clark explain that the media’s false characterizations are emotionally exhausting... and immediately responds by falsely characterizing her again.
You cannot parody this level of arrogance.
ESPN isn’t covering Caitlin Clark anymore. It’s manufacturing a fictional version of her, attacking that fiction, and calling it analysis.
This isn’t journalism.
Ridge View's Zoey Aschinger grounds out with bases loaded, hitting home Savannah Cudabeck. The Raptors tie it up with a Harper Cress double driving in Cora Tesch and Reese Hawthorne. Score is 9-9 with two outs in the top of the fifth. Sawyer Buhr is new pitcher for Wapsie Valley.
A proud moment for Iowa's next governor, @ZachLahn! 🇺🇸
"A boy who grew up north of Sioux City, outside of small town of less than 300 people, was endorsed for his campaign by President Donald J. Trump himself."
After a 15-inning marathon between North Butler & Clarksville (Clarksville 12-11), #6 Remsen St. Mary’s (24-4) and #3 St. Edmond (25-9) are finally warming up for their game.

Stephanie White is full of ______.
CC said she’s feeling fine. This is just Steph trying to give Ty Harris more minutes and reduce CC’s playing time under the excuse of an injury.

Final, 2A:
#7 Ridge View 2,

A 2-run home run for Zoey Aschinger in the top of the 7th inning is the difference. Nora Todd pitches a complete game shutout for the Raptors (26-7).
Durant drops to 26-13.
