Majority Opinion in Vásquez v. State of Texas:
The Writ of Certiorari was granted to the petitioner, Mr. Vásquez, after appeal from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In the Brief and Oral Arguments the petitioner argued that the State of Texas violated his rights-
until he could be heard in an immigration court. The petitioner contends that the State of Texas violated these rights as prescribed in the Declaration of Human Rights of Individuals who are not nationals of the country in which they live.
The Justices is conferencing in the case of Vásquez v. State of Texas, which was heard on Tuesday’s court session. Opinion, written for the majority by Chief Justice Lawson, will be handed down on Monday, March 23rd.
