We can confirm there was a shooting incident at the Combin Ridge Motel in Frankford Twp. this morning involving State Troopers. The incident is still being investigated by multiple agencies. There is currently no threat to public safety; the suspect has been apprehended.

The SCPO and Vernon PD are investigating a shooting that occurred last night around 1 AM. Vernon PD responded to a residence for a discharge of a weapon with injuries. One person was taken to the hospital, where he later passed away. No danger to the public. Ongoing Investigation

Due to a large tree taking down power lines and a pole Newton-Sparta Road is closed in both directions between Limecrest Road and Pinkneyville Road. Detours have been established.
