@irbrodie His personality and grasp of complex issues have always been most evident in long form interviews like this one with Amanda or the ones he used to do in US from time to time. I always wished he'd do more of those in Canada. Canadians should demand more of that from our media.
National Security Advisor @MikeWaltz47: "I don't think anyone should be criticizing the President for trying to drive this to a diplomatic solution. And what he said today is, why hasn't President Zelenskyy tried to end this war for the betterment of his country?"
I recently had the privilege of getting together with the Canadian Club at Cambridge University to talk about dramatic recent changes in the relationship between Canada and the United States. Here are the speaking notes which summarize the presentation. https://t.co/oVWhKj2r24
Fascinating gamble to assume the opponent's grasp and recognition of complex issues and connection with global leaders is a political weakness at this moment. Will be interesting to see how Cdn voters respond.
To be so far apart, Shapiro and Atkins had to know last year that they likely weren't going to get a deal done. And yet they didn't deal him at the deadline or over the winter when they had a year of control to offer and a far more valuable trade asset.
@GeneralHillier I totally get this. But I suspect, in our current climate, many would interpret the gesture as some sort of endorsement of the way the US is currently treating Canada.
@Alex_Panetta There is a simple way for the feds to address this: make a serious and visible effort to lead and show you're taking initiative, rather than merely reacting to social media salvos. Why is Mark Carney more visible on this file than the PM and our cabinet ministers?
@howardanglin Perhaps we should really thank John A. Macdonald and the Bank Act of 1871 for making both PM Harper and Carney look good. Harper is on record saying as much.
@EricDLombardi How would you propose to reduce gridlock in the GTA more affordably? Or is your argument that reducing GTA traffic gridlock shouldn't be a high priority?
