The Sindh Commission on the Status of Women highly condemns the increasing number of gender-based violence incidents in public spaces such as the brutal events that occurred at Minar e Pakistan on 14th August & the rape of the dead body of a girl in Thatta. 1/3
We are appalled and horrified by such acts show that patriarchal mindset of our society is causing public spaces for women to shrink. Women have the right to live without discrimination. 2/3
The assault of a young women by a mob at #minarepakistan should shame every Pakistani. It speaks to a rot in our society. Those responsible must be brought to justice. The women of Pakistan feel insecure and it is all our responsibility to ensure safety and equal rights to all.
