Identifying parents who are carriers for haemoglobin disorders before conception allows you to make informed choices about your pregnancy.
Please contact the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre on 020 7683 4570 to have your partner tested for pre-conceptual counselling.
If you are a sickle cell/thalassaemia carrier or have an unusual haemoglobin variant and are thinking about having a baby, then your partner needs to be tested.
When both parents are carriers, the baby may be affected (1 in 4 chance) with possible serious consequences.
