I’ve tested EVs for years - and here’s why I finally got my own.
For four years, I’ve lived a double life on the road. One week, I’d be climbing into a burbling hot hatch or long-legged diesel SUV; the next, I’d be silently gliding away in the latest electric vehicle, watching the predicted range tick down instead of a fuel gauge.
Like many drivers, I had my doubts. Range anxiety sounded real. Public charging looked confusing. The Chery Tiggo 8 feels like somebody turned up to the family SUV design meeting with a long list of specs and said "I want all of them."
It comes with seven seats, massive screens, ambient lighting, a panoramic roof and pretty clever voice control...
And it's probably why brands like Chery are becoming very difficult to ignore.

What you’re left with is an ‘adventure-seeking leisure vehicle with a free, summery vibe’, says Renault.

The Q9 will be Audi’s largest SUV when it goes on sale later this summer, sitting ahead of the seven-seat Q7 and the sleek Q8.

Instead Audi is this week focusing on the Q9’s cabin - which is plush to say the least and is being described as a ‘mobile living space’.
