@Catherineoscopy Very often the reluctance is not from the side of the corresponding author but the first author. Not all professors are evil to that extent. Just sayin'
Instead of focusing on ensuring that the "Nyaya Sanhita" and the "Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita" actually dispense justice and make India a safe place for its citizens, resources are being spent on renaming codes and acts. This is the magic we were waiting for! Congratulations India
#BREAKING: Home Minister introduces bill to amend Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act.
The names are sought to be changed, from English to Hindi.
—> IPC to Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
—> CrPC to Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
—> Indian Evidence Act to Bharatiya Sakshya.
While the content of these bills overhauling criminal laws in the country is yet to be analysed in detail, but the manner in which the entire task was undertaken by the Home Ministry was completely secretive.
No one knew what was going on, who they consulted, and no RTI applications on the committee’s workings were entertained. So much so that the RTIs were not even replied to or acknowledged, forget being rejected.
A fine print analysis will reveal how exactly these bills seek to overhaul the existing criminal laws.
Come be my colleague! If you are passionate about teaching and doing research with undergrads and masters' students, then @VillanovaU is for you! Bio Dept is very supportive, staff are amazing, and faculty are great people, too.

The Herzel lab is recruiting - we are seeking an experimental or computational scientist motivated to explore RNA binding protein dynamics and the transcript isoform landscape during developmental transitions of the opportunistic fungal pathogen C. albicans. Find the links below.
Our new study exploring the molecular principles governing packaging of eukaryotic mRNPs has just come out in @GenesDev .
We find evidence for RNA packaging and compaction relying on positively charged IDRs of potentially many RNA binding proteins. Interested? Check it out!
@biochem_bri Yoohoo! Congratulations and all the best for this new step of your careet🥳🥳🥳 And once again thank you for all your great work on demystifying Biochemistry.
1) Thread for today: I am not going to opine on the Supreme Court's ruling except to tell a story about a late and valued friend. The story will suffice for the sum of my thoughts about affirmative action.
I was working at the student newspaper at the University of Maryland...
@TheBrainOfPinky Science seems to be less about science and knowledge and more about politics and economy now (or maybe now that we are older and wiser).
What I take away from this is that science and research is no longer considered knowledge but a product which must be saleable and have monetary value. Good times!
@snsf_ch With all due respect, it would be very helpful if the SNSF were to outline what their views on the matter are. To state "are not necessarily the views of the SNSF" seem woefully inadequate in this case.
