Senator Josh Kimbrell, a Republican whose county was where Richard Moore, killed a convenience store clerk more than 20 years ago, says his crime "does not rise" to the level that should be reserved for the death penalty.
Moore was executed earlier this evening.
South Carolina has executed Richard Moore. He is the 2nd person executed in the state and the 21st in the U.S. in 2024. This was the 45th execution carried out by South Carolina since it reenacted capital punishment in the 1970s. @justice360sc@SCADeathPenalty
