Born in 1940 in Shahjahanpur and long based in Bhopal, Ijlal Majeed is a distinguished contemporary Urdu ghazal poet and academic. He combined a historian's objective insight with a poet's sensitive vision, serving as Head of the History Department at Saifia College until his retirement in 1998. Steering clear of superficial fame and conventional rhetoric, his verse focuses heavily on existential themes, deep introspection, and the reality of the present moment. His published collections, including 'Khud Girifta' and 'Lamha-e-Maujood', received widespread critical acclaim for blending profound philosophical melancholy with deceptively simple language. Beyond his poetry, Majeed built a historic bridge between Urdu and Hindi literature by editing a landmark two-volume anthology for the Hindi journal 'Vasudha'. Ultimately, his legacy endures through his quiet inner resonance and intellectual honesty, cementing his place as a uniquely impactful voice among his contemporaries.

Born to the poet Maulana Haji Syed Mujtaba, Ali Ahsan turned to self-education after his father’s early death and began writing poetry at age fourteen. He launched the acclaimed magazine ‘Riyad-e-sukhan’ in 1895, earning the patronage of Ibrahim Ali Khan Khaleel, the ruler of the State of Tonk. Under the direct mentorship of Dagh Dehlvi, Ahsan authored his teacher’s biography ‘Jalwa-e-Dagh’ and later established the magazine ‘Risala Faseh-ul-Mulk’ in his memory. After working on literary manuscripts in Lahore in 1904, he served as a Lecturer in Persian and Arabic at Muslim University Inter College until his retirement in 1938. Deeply influenced by Dagh’s poetic style as one of his finest disciples, Ali Ahsan passed away in Patna on August 20, 1940.

If you worry about coming too quickly, then you probably will. But if you are only thinking about enjoying your woman for as long as you want, then you will probably last as long as you want.
