Anglicare’s rental affordability report contains two jaw dropping stats. A person on the Age Pension can only afford to rent 0.4% of properties. A person on the minimum wage can afford less than 1% of properties. That means most people in these two groups can’t afford a home.
Game changer. Today’s Operation Daintree IBAC report recommends Ministerial advisors be compellable to give evidence to parly committees. Who can forget the #ChildrenOverboard Inquiry? Report doesn’t seem to say if Vic Govt accepts this recommendation.
Eight years since Anaesthetists called for this change, as originally reported by @Mad_Morris https://t.co/tTs9LtgZ93
Wonder if/how many adverse events occurred in that time. https://t.co/VUScbflQDE
Very sad Australia lost Davis Cup final. But if it had to be anyone beat us, stoked it was (g)O Canada. 🇦🇺🇨🇦
History made as Canada crowned world champions for first time https://t.co/4MNhOC1dOt #DavisCup
The ABC has restated how proud it is of her. Anyone who values the role the media should play in a Democracy will applaud the fact that she and the rest of that short list (and all the people on the long long list after that) are doing what we all need them to do.
I’ve watched with growing dismay this week as @MilliganReports has been hammered over her speech to ACT Women Lawyers. It was 100% what was in her book, Witness, so it’s exactly what she was invited to come and say.
If you draw up a very short list of practising Australian journos who have investigated nigh-on-impossible stories of major pubic importance, and cracked them, and contributed to meaningful long-term change as a result, then Lou Milligan is definitely on that list.
This. Stops. Here.
There’s no other rational response to this story.
You won’t see a more important one this year.
Just one of the appalling truths it reveals: 23% of women killed in this country are indigenous. #4Corners at its devastating best. https://t.co/QqY4WBZrsJ
Anyone been contacted by Medibank and told you are one of the 100 customers whose data the hackers sent as proof it was successfully stolen? Fascinated to hear what they’ve told you. Anonymously of course if you prefer. DM me.
Washington Post’s @CraigMWhitlock’s and Nate Jones’ detailed revelations about Australian government’s hiring of US military alumnae. Sheds a whole new light on the subs controversy. https://t.co/4yLFJ5MJHV
