Here's the truth about California's Medicaid mess.
Half that money comes from the state. Half comes from the federal government.
$9 billion of California's share went to medical coverage for people who came across the border illegally.

That money is supposed to be for citizens. Plain and simple.

So the feds did what anyone would do when the rules get broken. They pulled the funding back.

Now Sacramento wants to blame Washington.

But this is a mess California made for itself.

People are leaving. Businesses are leaving. Refineries are shutting down. That's not Washington. That's Sacramento policy, year after year.

Take care of your own citizens first. It really is that simple.

America's Founders never envisioned Congress as a lifelong career.

When the First Congress met in 1789, members weren't paid annual salaries. Instead, they received a per diem, about $6 per day when Congress was in session.

The idea was simple:

Serve your country, then go home.

Most lawmakers were farmers, merchants, lawyers, and business owners who left their jobs temporarily to represent their communities before returning to private life.

In 1815, Congress voted itself an annual salary of $1,500.

The public was furious.

Many members lost reelection, and Congress quickly repealed the law.

For much of American history, serving in Congress was viewed as a temporary duty, not a profession.

Today, members earn $174,000 per year, receive generous benefits, maintain taxpayer-funded staffs, and many spend decades in office.

Some remain in Washington longer than they ever worked in the private sector.

The Founders envisioned citizen legislators.

What America has today is a permanent political class.

Would Congress make different decisions if members knew they would soon be returning home to live under the laws they passed?

Mosquito infestation in California school:
After my viral video yesterday, 22 teachers from a different school have now come forward to me about Rancho San Diego Elementary making teachers and kids sick in the Cajon Valley School District. Teachers are reporting a mosquito infestation: The cold air from air conditioning causes condensation in the ceilings above kids heads that breeds mosquitoes. Teachers say this is causing sick days for teachers and students. Meanwhile, Superintendent David Miyashiro earns nearly half a million in total compensation and drives a $100,000 Lucid Aire paid for and provided by taxpayer dollars.
