@LizziGreen2 I don't understand your connection to insufficient funding for palliative care. We watched my father in law die a slow, painful, drawn-out death that stole his pride and humanity. He wished to die with more dignity. That doesn't lessen my respect for hospices or their workers.

@ToryFibs My in-laws refer to it as the winter wine allowance. We've discussed how wasteful and poorly targeted the policy is for years, with the majority of pensioners better off than the younger generations. This said, there are 2 million affected vulnerable people that must get support.
