This is a shocking incident, all the more so because this is a quiet residential area. My thoughts are with the man who was just out walking his dog when he was put through this ordeal. Anyone with any information should come forward.
Disgusted to find asbestos dumped and strewn across an entry. Those responsible have no respect for people's health or the environment. Reported straight through to the council – thanks to officers for arranging specialist removal.
In Govt the SDLP was eager to deliver Glider 2, working w/ local community. Change can't wait - the new Infrastructure Minister shouldn’t delay in publishing the public consultation results so that we can all move to detailed design phase conversations.

Great to visit @StBridesPS1 to find out more about their school modernisation plans. Chatted about how it's aimed at helping pupils, and proposals to mitigate traffic challenges and encourage active travel.

We need to put a stop to waste mountains. I feel so bad for residents, and for workers who have to remove them, and indeed for young people who've just taken out leases only to be moving in beside this. I'm meeting senior council managers to see how enforcement can be beefed up.
Another day, another pile of rubbish in an entry. Big thanks to council workers who once again have done a great job clearing it, but if some people didn't act like absolute hallions then they wouldn't need to do it, and could instead be freed up to do more positive stuff 😡
When we talk about constitutional change in Ireland, we can't avoid talking about the shocking changes to the UK state.
Corruption, brazen lying, constitutional vandalism, law breaking are now routine - should we have to accept that?

Spoke yesterday on the campaign of distortion being waged about the causes & effects of the Protocol, by those who created it, and urged DUP to unshackle themselves from the ERG & help us achieve the negotiated solutions that can work for all our people. They heckled instead 🤷♀️
🧵 Tomorrow Belfast’s new cleansing taskforce meets for the first time. I have some concerns about it being a talking shop, though I don’t doubt the sincerity of the Lord Mayor, whom I respect. https://t.co/BGoN5FFGBr 1/
Really powerful cross-party meeting on stroke care with @strokeassocni@nichstweet. More than one of us had experienced stroke in our own families, so very moving to hear from survivors. Time now for practical delivery of the new stroke strategy action plan.
A great buzz, fantastic music and unbelievably good food at the Holylands Big Lunch. A massive well done to everyone involved in organising it. Call down to City Church on Carmel Street before 3pm and join the party!

This morning I convened a meeting with a number of Upper Ormeau area elected representatives, PSNI & the Housing Executive to address issues raised by constituents. Fundamentally this area remains one of the safest places in Belfast and as a community we work well together.
🦁 Had a useful catch-up with the PSNI East Belfast command team this morning under the watchful eyes of Aslan at CS Lewis Square. Some initiatives to come over the next few weeks and months.
Fantastic to drop by Eglantine Community Garden where @VolunteerSU were helping with the ongoing work to create a beautiful urban space for the area. Good work everyone 👏
