Sudan Doctors Network: Four Killed, 12 Injured in Rapid Support Forces Attack on El Obeid

Four people were killed and 12 others injured when the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted several areas in El Obeid, North Kordofan State. The RSF targeted the “Dalil” Cemetery during a funeral procession, killing four mourners and injuring seven others. The RSF also targeted a gas station in El Obeid, seriously injuring five people. There are fears that the death toll may rise as attacks on civilian areas and service facilities continue.

In a separate incident, a truck driver was killed when his vehicle, which was carrying food supplies, was targeted in the Jebel Kordofan area. This attack violates the sanctity of civilian life and undermines efforts to provide essential goods to the population.

The Sudan Doctors Network condemns the RSF’s systematic and repeated attacks on civilian areas in El Obeid, which have continued for more than a week. The Network emphasizes that targeting civilians, service facilities, and food transport constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

The Network holds the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces fully responsible for these violations and calls on the international community, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to take urgent action to protect civilians and halt the attacks that threaten the lives of residents and worsen the humanitarian situation in the city.

قتل 4 أشخاص وأصيب 12 آخرين جراء استهداف الدعم السريع لعدد من المناطق بمدنية الأبيض بولاية شمال كردفان حيث استهدفت المسيرات مقابر "دليل" اثناء تشييع جثمان مما أدى لمقتل 4 أشخاص من المشيعين وإصابة 7 آخرين كما استهدفت المسيرات إحدى محطات الوقود بمدينة الأبيض مما أدى إلى إصابة 5 أشخاص بجروح خطيرة، وسط مخاوف من تزايد أعداد الضحايا نتيجة استمرار القصف على الأعيان المدنية والمرافق الخدمية.
وفي حادثة منفصلة قتل سائق شاحنة عقب استهداف عربته المحملة بالمواد الغذائية في منطقة جبل كردفان، في انتهاك يطال المدنيين ووسائل الإمداد التي يعتمد عليها السكان في الحصول على احتياجاتهم الأساسية.

Sudan Doctors Network: A force affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces carried out an attack on the Al-Murra area west of Bara, executing 27 people, including elderly residents.

A force belonging to the Rapid Support Forces carried out an armed attack on villages in the Al-Murra area west of the city of Bara, resulting in the killing of 27 people, including elderly individuals, on the second day of Eid al-Adha, in what is described as a new crime targeting unarmed civilians in areas with no military presence.

The network stated that targeting villages and civilian areas and executing citizens in such a brutal manner constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and all norms and conventions that prohibit attacks on civilians, especially amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions people are enduring because of the ongoing war.

The network considers the continued attacks on civilians and safe villages to be worsening the humanitarian catastrophe and forcing more families into displacement, suffering, and the loss of their means of survival. The network called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn these violations and act urgently to protect civilians and stop the repeated attacks on residential areas by pressuring RSF leaders to end violations against civilians.

Sudan Doctors Network: Environmental Threat in River Nile State Due to the Use of Toxic Materials in Mining

More than 20 sheep have died in River Nile State after drinking from processing ponds belonging to gold mining activities that use hazardous chemicals. The incident reflects the growing environmental and health risks caused by unregulated mining and the use of chemicals without effective controls or oversight.

According to preliminary information gathered by the network’s team, water contaminated with cyanide and thiourea — chemicals used in gold extraction processes — directly caused the livestock deaths, posing a threat to local residents, livestock, and the surrounding environment.

The Sudan Doctors Network holds the Ministry of Minerals and the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company fully responsible for the continuation of these dangerous practices and their catastrophic impacts on human health, animals, and the environment, especially given the widespread presence of uncovered processing ponds near water sources, grazing lands, and residential areas.

The network emphasized that the absence of strict environmental and health monitoring has encouraged the uncontrolled use of toxic substances in ways that could lead to long-term health and environmental disasters.

The Sudan Doctors Network calls on the relevant authorities to take urgent action to combat unregulated mining, halt unsafe chemical processing operations, tighten oversight on the use of toxic substances, and require mining companies and workers to comply with necessary environmental and health standards. The network also called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible, in order to protect citizens, livestock, and the environment from deadly pollution risks.

Sudan Doctors Network: More than 61 people were killed in the city of Kauda, including 9 children and 5 women, on a tribal basis, as a result of clashes between forces loyal to Abdelaziz al-Hilu and the Otoro tribe, according to testimonies from survivors.

Sudan Doctors Network expresses deep concern regarding reports and consistent testimonies received from survivors in Kauda and surrounding areas, following a dangerous escalation of violations against civilians over the past two weeks. These violations included extrajudicial killings, slaughtering, burning of homes and shops, as well as widespread looting of property, allegedly carried out by forces affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

According to testimonies from survivors interviewed by the network’s team in South Kordofan, civilians were directly and indiscriminately targeted, resulting in the deaths of 61 people, including 9 children and 5 women. The region has also witnessed a large wave of displacement and widespread fear among residents.

The testimonies obtained by the network indicate that Otoro areas have become the scene of horrific violations against their inhabitants, with villages and areas around Kauda subjected to systematic burning and restrictions imposed on civilians, amid the absence of safe corridors for evacuating the wounded or delivering humanitarian aid. This has severely worsened the humanitarian and health situation.

Sudan Doctors Network holds the leadership of the SPLM-N fully responsible for the violations committed against civilians in Kauda and its surroundings. The network also calls for the opening of humanitarian corridors to evacuate the wounded, women, and children, and urges regional and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to protect civilians.

تعرب شبكة أطباء السودان عن بالغ قلقها إزاء التقارير والشهادات المتطابقة الواردة من ناجين من مدينة كاودا والمناطق المحيطة بها، نتيجة التصعيد الخطير في الانتهاكات ضد المدنيين خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين، والتي شملت القتل خارج نطاق القانون، وعمليات ذبح، وحرق للمنازل والمتاجر، إلى جانب أعمال نهب واسعة للممتلكات، من قبل قوات تتبع للحركة الشعبية – شمال بقيادة عبد العزيز الحلو.
ووفقًا لإفادات ناجين استمع إليها فريق الشبكة في جنوب كردفان، فإن الاستهداف طال المدنيين بصورة مباشرة ودون تمييز، ما تسبب في مقتل 61 شخصًا، بينهم 9 أطفال و5 نساء، كما شهدت المنطقة موجة نزوح واسعة وحالة من الرعب وسط السكان.
وتشير الشهادات التي حصلت عليها الشبكة إلى أن مناطق الأطورو أصبحت اليوم مسرحًا لانتهاكات مروعة بحق أهلها، مع تعرض قرى ومناطق حول كاودا لعمليات حرق ممنهجة وتضييق على المدنيين، وسط غياب أي ممرات آمنة لإجلاء الجرحى أو إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية، الأمر الذي فاقم الأوضاع الإنسانية والصحية بصورة خطيرة.

Sudan Doctors Network said that 6 civilians were killed and 15 others injured, including 6 women, as a result of artillery shelling that struck the city of Al-Dilling in South Kordofan yesterday. The shelling targeted the area surrounding the main market and the central bus station. Among the victims were several volunteers and humanitarian workers who were preparing food for displaced people in the area. According to the network’s field monitoring team, the attack was carried out deliberately against densely populated civilian areas, as part of continued assaults on the city allegedly by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement–North (al-Hilu faction).

The network stressed that the continued deliberate shelling of residential neighborhoods, markets, and civilian facilities in Al-Dilling has worsened the humanitarian and health crisis. The city is already suffering from a severe collapse in medical services, acute shortages of medicines and medical supplies, and difficulties in safely transporting patients and the wounded to healthcare facilities. The ongoing artillery attacks have also increased the number of displaced people and placed thousands of civilians at direct risk, amid fears that more health facilities may go out of service.

Sudan Doctors Network called on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop these repeated violations against civilians. It also urged pressure on the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM–North al-Hilu faction to halt attacks on civilian areas and open safe corridors for the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to those affected.

Nurses have been a true support for the healthcare sector throughout the war, continuing their work in hospitals and health centers despite the dangers and the massive collapse of the healthcare system, offering their lives and efforts without hesitation or neglect.

Nursing staff have paid a heavy price during this war, which has now entered its fourth year and continues to claim more lives. A large number of nurses lost their lives while carrying out their humanitarian duty of treating patients and caring for the wounded, while others were subjected to arrest, abuses, and deprivation of the most basic requirements for safe working conditions. As the Sudan Doctors Network honors their resilience and sacrifices, it affirms that what they have provided will remain a source of appreciation and gratitude for all the Sudanese people.

The Sudan Doctors Network prays for mercy upon all victims from the healthcare sector, including nurses and allied medical personnel, and renews its call for the protection of healthcare workers and medical facilities by all parties in accordance with international laws and conventions. It also calls for an end to all violations targeting the healthcare sector and its workers so they can continue their humanitarian mission of saving lives and alleviating the suffering of citizens.
