@VR_FR_Spotter Not just yet. Work been kicking my butt lately, I’ve just now gotten the Pro beta out for iOS . But I have not & will not forget about Android
Launching the Echo Pro beta test soon for Live Transcription and Recording with Transcription for the existing tester list. Let me know if you’re interested in beta testing!
This looks cool @SDRecho that allows iPhones to pick a KiwiSDR and listen along https://t.co/dxG81vp1GJ
We mention it at 2h33m10s on Episode 262 https://t.co/KhE7QgucF9
As I continue work on a larger Echo update that will introduce Pro features I’ve worked on these past few months, what are some things you’d like to see in this app? Anything from a basic bug fix to a great idea for a feature. Let me know 📡
@PrigozhinGaming It does work on Mac! At least Mac’s with Apple silicon. I won’t rule out a Web app or Windows but for now the next platform I’m focusing on is Android :)
@DoubleHexagon01@vxdb@slipperrz Our phones actually do a somewhat similar version of this with Carrier Aggregation. A closer example would be phones using data + WiFi at the same time if either connection happens to get weak
It’s worth pinging @slipperrz (Speeds technical director) to check but from what I can gather, an encoder splits the video data into tiny packets and pushes them through all six modems simultaneously. A server on the other side catches them, puts everything back in order, and spits out one solid stream. It's basically stacking multiple weak connections to get enough bandwidth. Radio is indeed cool
Update on Echo Pro 📡
I have live transcription of listening sessions working with very little latency & great accuracy, plus audio recording & playback with transcription of the recording as well. Think of it like closed captioning for the radio spectrum
You can easily speed up or slow down recordings, & share them using the usual iOS share options
The foundation is there to apply translations of all of the above & that’s what I’m working on now. Echo Pro is on the way!
@Wolfhound89 RadarScope is my go to, I’ve had my Pro subscription a couple years and it was the easiest purchase ever. What storm chasers do you generally tune into?
It’s always cool seeing Echo posted in the wild. If you’ve caught anything cool while listening shoot me a message or tag me!
This is from the Ham Radio Crash Course Discord, probably the first place I ever shared the project ❤️
Weekends are when I get the most time to work on Echo. Send over any bug reports or feature requests you might have. If you have a second, please drop a review on the App Store! I read every single one, & your feedback directly shapes the frequent updates I ship out 👍🏼
@K3TripleR Genuinely like this post. It’s important to keep people talking about amateur radio, the possibilities in this community & hobby are literally endless
Accessibility & VoiceOver
• SDR Interface Context: The live radio player now identifies itself to VoiceOver, providing better orientation for blind and low-vision users.
• Global Database Fix: Restored access to the "Favorite" button within station search results for VoiceOver users.
• Onboarding Announcements: Swiping through the setup guide now clearly announces page numbers (e.g., "Page 2 of 5").
• Scanner Audio Cues: The automatic scanner now gives a three-second warning before advancing, so you're never surprised by a station change.
• Map & Sheet Navigation: Improved VoiceOver focus handling for map server details and connection error screens.
• Semantic Grouping: Cleaned up labels on the Acknowledgements screen, Filter chips, and Retry buttons to remove "image noise" and provide clear descriptions.
• Platform Announcements: The new macOS compatibility banner features automatic VoiceOver announcements and semantic grouping, ensuring the platform-specific guidance is immediately clear to blind and low-vision users.
• Accessibility improvements will keep being added as feedback is given
Echo v1.1.1 is rolling out!
