People are still recovering in Kentucky after a month's worth of rain fell in less than 24 hours in February, damaging homes and businesses throughout the state. More than 350 dedicated Red Cross team members have traveled from across the country to respond to this devastating disaster and continue to support those in need.
As our teams work diligently to help people recover, here’s a snapshot of how we’re helping with partners:
• Providing over 3,200 overnight shelter stays
• Ensuring people in shelters have hot meals, hygiene items, emotional support, and health services
• Distributing more than 39,500 meals and snacks and over 14,700 relief items
• Assessing damage in affected neighborhoods
• Supporting Disaster Recovery Centers and reaching out to eligible households to offer financial assistance
