We were told at an AA gate that this happens all the time and AA would reimburse us once we were back in the US. That seems to not be true. Why would I book through AA to not have status benefits for one checked bag per person for an overseas flight. This is a sad way fly Spain.

@AmericanAir I have always enjoyed flying American Airlines. I have to say, you really shocked me this past trip- our Honeymoon to Spain. I booked our flights with miles. Our initial flight from Dallas to Madrid was an @Iberia flight. They charged us $110/ per bag per person.

This was shocking since we booked with MILES almost 8 months in advance on the AA app with Gold Status. I had called in advance to see what I needed to do for meal selection and seat selections and if there was anything else I needed to do since I had never booked like this.
