In ASâ167, NGET is seeking to shift postâconsent DCO decisionâmaking to a hypothetical DESNZ unit that does not yet exist and has no defined powers, procedures or safeguards.
Although the Government has said such a unit may in future support nuclear and electricity networks projects, it remains entirely prospective and untested and certainly not a basis for rewriting a live DCO.
Embedding this undefined body into Sea Link would sideline Suffolkâs local authorities and give NGET the ability to choose, âin each caseâ, who signs off on their mitigation.
ð§ðµð¶ð ð¶ð ð»ðŒð ð®ð» ð²ððð®ð¯ð¹ð¶ððµð²ð± ðŒð¿ ð²ð ð®ðºð¶ð»ð²ð± ðœðŒð¹ð¶ð°ð ð¯ð®ðð¶ð ð³ðŒð¿ ð® ð¹ð¶ðð² ððð¢ ðð ð®ðºð¶ð»ð®ðð¶ðŒð», ð¶ð ð»ðŒð ð·ðððð¶ð³ð¶ð²ð±, ð®ð»ð± ð¶ð ð»ðŒð ð®ð°ð°ð²ðœðð®ð¯ð¹ð².
It is another example of NGET using stealth to avoid negotiating fair, locally accountable Requirements with our councils.
If allowed, it would set a dangerous precedent for LionLink and every future project.
SEAS is calling for [ASâ167] to be removed from the Examination in full. â ïžâ ïž

â ïžâ ïžSea Link â Have Your Final Say for Deadline 7â ïžâ ïž
We urge all those who signed up as an "Interested Party" to submit any final outstanding issues that you believe have not been properly addressed or adequately resolved.
The deadline is tomorrow â Wednesday 29 April, by midnight.
You can submit via the âHave Your Sayâ button on the Sea Link DCO Planning Inspectorate page. Every submission counts at this final stage of the Examination.
One issue that Interested Parties are strongly encouraged to comment on is the Applicantâs proposal ASâ167.
This would allow a future, hypothetical DESNZ unit â which does not yet exist and has no defined powers or procedures â to take over the discharge of DCO Requirements.
Under this approach, Suffolkâs councils would be sidelined, reduced to consultees with no say in the final decision.
This would push aside the people who actually know our communities, our roads, our landscape and the pressures we already live with.
It would replace local judgement with an untested approval system that has never been examined. Interested Parties may wish to urge the Examining Authority to reject ASâ167 in full, as it represents a material and unjustified late change to the Examination.

ððLooking for a job where you can make a difference to the local environment??
We have been asked to share these opportunities currently advertised at East Suffolk Council as there maybe some followers with these skills, who understand the local issues and would be ideal candidates.ðð

ð§ð§Both Friday Street and Yoxford roundabouts were opened on Monday 30th March.
There was much traffic congestion as drivers cautiously adjusted to the new layout, road markings, and signageâfeatures that will soon become familiar with regular use.
There is still much to do; removal of the old road, landscaping and final connections to the two-village bypass, which is expected to be finished in the Summer.
