Harnessing insights from a community of practice to progress Aphasia psychological care in Ireland: a mixed methods integration study informed by normalisation process theory https://t.co/ZW2PF0Dlnc @mollyxmanning @mia_hanrahan @AoifeCDowling@iaslt
Giving a talk or presentation? Here's some excellent advice - four ways to crush it:
1) Understand your audience: "What do really want to know about my topic & why does it matter to them?”
2) Practice "structured improvisation": Most speakers are either "scripters" (stick to a pre-prepared script) or "wingers" (wing it). Be both.
3) Strike a balance between data & stories: Based on the needs of the audience
4) Set a goal to educate or provide insight, not impress: it's about learning for the audience, not about you.

So pleased to share a series of films made with people with #aphasia/ family members on what we can all do to support emotional recovery post #stroke.
They hoped their messages would be heard widely – please share!

Thank you to @SEA_Aphasia@WeHSCPs for inviting me. Fantastic to hear your accounts of using #SFBT mindset with ppl w #aphasia - to empower clients & hear what's important to them. Love the ideas for consolidating #SFBT e.g. having #SFBT cribsheet above your desk & peer support
Thank you very much to @SarahNorthcott8 for another inspiring day of interaction and training, following a 5 month experiential learning period since our last two day course. The value of using a SFBT approach as a mindset was echoed consistently by participants @iaslt@WeHSCPs
Looking forward to reading these 82 best practice guidelines for aphasia from quality stroke guidelines. ‘Gaps were identified in three clinical practice areas: ‘accessing community supports’, ‘return to work, leisure, driving’, and ‘interprofessional practice’.
@mollyxmanning @PPI_Ignite_UL@AoifeCDowling I am excited and delighted with this #PPI Initiative @PPI_Ignite_UL. Giving strong voices of the lived experience of #APHASIA, telling it as it is. I'm looking forward to working with @AoifeCDowling and your good self @mollyxmanning - thanks

Mixing socially with others and the emotional side of recovery are just as important as the physical side of our recovery journeys!
Love the idea of positive ripples! Also love the idea of together looking to shift mindsets so the focus of our work is noticing the person rather than seeing only the impairment. You were a wonderful group to work with - thank you @iaslt@WeHSCPs@SEA_Aphasia#SFinSLT#aphasia
