As we’re entering a new season of pitch events, we want to remind querying authors of some schmagent red flags. This is your sign to reach out if you need help vetting your agent list!!

As we're coming closer to pitch event day, we want to remind everyone to do their research/reach out to the community before sending over your materials to requesting agents! Here's a great list of red flags to look out for:

a non-exhaustive list of schmagency red flags! just some off the top of my head as someone who’s been around for a bit (pitchwars mentee, roundtable mentor, on my third and fourth v wonderful agents):

-agencies that offer paid editorial services (agencies never charge $) 🚩

@authorvaughnroe We didn't have a much success getting editors on board previously. Especially in trad pub, editors often build connections with agents and get submission from them, rather than scouting pitch events. But if there's any indie editors lurking, they are free to interact w the pitch!
