The Pride in SECAmb network represents LGBT staff, supports colleagues and promotes LGBT issues within South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
A great opportunity at ALF 2026 to speak directly with our sector leaders about the importance of LGBT+ inclusion across UK ambulance services. π With the National Ambulance LGBT+ Network, making sure LGBT+ voices are part of the conversation shaping the future of our servicesπ
Last year, in the UK, there were 22,511 recorded hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity recorded by police in the UK. Thatβs approximately one hate crime towards LGBT+ people reported to the police every 23 minutes. These are only the reported crimes.
2026 marks just 36 years since the World Health Organization (WHO) finally remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD).
Although we have made much improvements, there is still work to be done.
LGBT+ people continue to face discrimination and stigma. In more than 60 countries homosexuality is still banned, and in some countries same-sex relations can be punished with the death penalty.
For much of the 20th century homosexuality was regarded as wrong, unnatural or sinful. The psychiatric classification was based on stigma and what was regarded as the social norm, not on science.
Thank you to all our reservists and to all our staff who have served in the armed forces. We're pleased that we recently received an Armed Forces Silver Award β up from Bronze which weβve held since 2018/19. More on our support of the covenant here: https://t.co/YvWDTOSQS9
It's been disappointing & upsetting to see some of the comments made by a small number of people following our post yesterday π
ALL of our staff have our full support to be themselves & we will not tolerate abuse in any form, including derogatory comments

Steph is a hugely valued #Paramedic & Ops Team Leader at @SECAmbulance.
Like all her #ambulance colleagues she fulfils a vital role in her community, and any abuse that she or they receive - from patients in need or the wider public - is NEVER acceptable.
#WorkWithoutFear.

Steph is one of our paramedics who, because of being her true self, has experienced abuse from the very people she has gone to help.
We're very proud of Steph but she, and all ambulance staff across the country,
deserve to #WorkWithoutFear

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Lesbophobia & Transphobia.
#IDAHOBLIT aims to raise awareness of anti-LGBTQ+ hate to drive positive change. Itβs our chance to remind ourselves of how far there is still to go to achieve LGBTQ+ equality β¬οΈ #IDAHOBIT2022
We are so proud of you Jake, what an inspiring and brave young man you are. @SECAmb_Pride stands in solidarity with you, we know how much representation matters! #ComingOut#LGBTQFamily#RoleModel
