Photo of the year! In a statement, a group of prominent Iranian photojournalists announced that a powerful photo of #MahsaAmini’s parents in a hospital when they heard about her death is Iran’s photo of the year. The photo was taken by journalist Niloofar Hamedi, 30, who has been unjustly in prison for her reporting on Mahsa Amini’s death since then. “Her powerful photo drew attention to the oppression of women in Iran in the last 44 years and shed light on their suffering, which had many repercussions beyond the borders of Iran,” the statement said.
