This test ensures our systems are working properly.

The SERC has opened up the Emergency Operations Centre in Morden.

If you are in Morden, please respect the barricades that have been set up on the roadways - they are meant to block access to potentially hazardous areas.

Tonight some local volunteers teamed up with the SERC to prepare for the upcoming weather event. Special thanks go out to those shining members of our great community, as well as Giesbrecht Excavating, Elias Trucking, Winkler Coop and so many others that made this possible!

5…We still have a heavy snowpack up on the escarpment which is going to come east, only the weather will decide how fast that comes.

Hoping for some colder temperatures to slow the melt.

4…We are expecting an increase in water levels in areas north of Winkler.

Depending on upcoming weather we could experience a second peak in some villages.

Forecast at this point looks favourable for a slower melt, which should allow for water levels to recede.

3…Water levels are high throughout the RM, so pumping water to solve a problem in one area is just creating another problem downstream.

Many of our roads are impassable; we are trying to barricade the problem areas but there remain numerous washouts that may not be barricaded.

2…It looks like the water in the western portion of the RM water levels are starting show signs of receding, but the east is still receiving a tremendous amount of water. If we see warm temperatures in the next few days we could easily see another peak in water flows.

•There is hardly an area of the RM that is not affected by overland flooding.
•Well over 100 locations where water is running over the road.
•There are several homes with flooded basements in a number of areas throughout the RM.
