🥍 When Irondequoit needed a 4th quarter spark, they went to #4️⃣4️⃣.
Sophomore Lucy Whipple scored twice and assisted on two more goals, as third-seeded IHS erupted for 7 in the fourth quarter in a 13-4 win over #6 Brighton on Friday. The Eagles (14-3) play at #2 Victor (13-4) in Wednesday's Section V Class B semifinals.
Junior Ellie Bottiglier led the way with 4 goals and junior Lila Velepec, senior Shannon Seymour and Ellie's sister, freshman Kate, all scored twice, but it was Whipple who ignited the Eagles. Her free-position goal with 7:43 remaining ended a 14-minute scoring drought after Brighton cut the lead to 6-4. She converted again to make it 8-4, then fed Seymour for another dagger with 4:02 to go. Junior goalie Mia Conine and the Eagles defense didn't allow a goal over the final 15:52. Great finish, IHS!
Sophomore Lucy Whipple had 6 goals and 1 assist and senior Grace Bottiglier connected 5 times with 2 helpers, as Irondequoit girls lacrosse remained unbeaten with an 18-5 win over visiting Rush-Henrietta. The game actually started on Wednesday night but was halted by lightning.
