Statement of Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. Regarding the Invalidation of EP141 in Germany

On October 21, 2024, Sunwoda initiated nullity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court against the German designation of European Patent No. 2 528 141 (“EP141”) (docket no. 3 Ni 17/24 (EP)), in response to the infringement proceedings brought by Tulip Innovation Kft. against Sunwoda based on EP141.

At the oral hearing held on May 19, 2026, the German Federal Patent Court declared EP141 invalid in its entirety with effect for the territory of Germany.

Sunwoda respects legitimate intellectual property rights and fair competition. At the same time, Sunwoda will firmly defend its lawful rights and interests against unfounded patent assertions and will continue to safeguard its business operations, customer relationships, and market reputation through proper legal channels.

Statement Regarding Defamatory Reports by Certain Media Outlets on Sunwoda Mobility in Connection with the Volvo EX30 Electric Vehicle Recall Incident

Recently, false rumors claiming that "the battery cells of the recalled Volvo EX30 electric vehicles are supplied by Sunwoda Mobility" have been circulating on various domestic and international online platforms. Such information is grossly inconsistent with the facts and has caused adverse impacts on the brand reputation of Sunwoda Mobility. To clarify the misunderstandings and set the record straight, our company hereby makes the following solemn statement:

After thorough verification, the battery packs of the Volvo EX30 electric vehicles that are reportedly to be recalled by Volvo are equipped with cells produced by Shandong Geely-Sunwoda Co., Ltd., which are supplied to Volvo's designated battery system suppliers. The battery system suppliers then assemble these cells into complete battery packs before selling them to Volvo. The aforementioned transactions have no connection whatsoever with Sunwoda Mobility Technology Co., Ltd.

Therefore, the rumors that the battery cells matching the Volvo EX30 electric vehicles are produced by Sunwoda Mobility are not based on objective facts. Our company firmly opposes any act that damages the brand image of Sunwoda Mobility. We demand that the relevant media outlets immediately cease the dissemination of such false information, remove and delete all involved articles in their entirety, and take the initiative to issue a clarification announcement to provide the public with the truth.
