#RecordOfTheWeek are some Hair Ice Crust (Exidiopsis effusa) records, including this example spotted by Theresa Heal in Cwmfelinfach. This amazing fungus causes a distinctive ice formation in suitable weather conditions. Thanks to all who recorded the species during the cold snap
The SEWBReC #SpeciesOfTheMonth for January is Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), which can be particularly vocal at this time of year.
Have you heard its distinctive twit-twoo call in your local area? https://t.co/vIm73Qeko2
We're a week into #RecordEveryDayJanuary already! Have you managed to keep up?
There's still time to get involved - just submit a record of a plant, animal or fungi you have seen on each day in January.
Submit 31 consecutive wildlife records by 3rd Feb to be included in the draw.
Our slightly late #RecordOfTheWeek for last week is this stunning Greater Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum), hibernating in a cave system in Glamorgan. Many thanks to Aaron Davies for the record & photos, submitted via LERC Wales App (surveyed under licence).
Want to get ahead of the January Blues? Take part in our new challenge - Record Every Day January!
We are asking everyone to get out in nature each day and spot some wildlife. Everyone who manages to #RecordEveryDayJanuary will go into a prize draw.
Our #RecordOfTheWeek today is a major milestone - our 7 millionth record was uploaded to Aderyn this week!
A large upload from eBird took us over the line, so we've picked a festive Robin as a representative record.
🎄Many thanks and Merry Christmas to all our recorders! 🎄
It was great to spend this morning upgrading the SEWBReC office yard with raised beds of native plants, kindly provided by @Keep_Wales_Tidy through their Local Places for Nature grant scheme. Looking forward to recording lots of new garden wildlife in 2025! Many thanks @KWT_RCT
#RecordOfTheWeek today is some lovely Mistletoe (Viscum album), spotted in Glascoed by Sean McHugh. Have you seen our #SpeciesOfTheMonth anywhere yet?
Many thanks to Sean for the record & photo, submitted via the LERC Wales App https://t.co/OHxaPM8aJs
