@Abhainngarbh Population estimates are the claimed populations for each of the hospitals in offical HSE reports— we elected not to 2nd guess the HSE. Best effort at creating a systemic overview and no one in officaldom has offered critique or an alternative.

#SouthEast strong showing in Q4 2023 @csoirelandlabour force survey #LFS, record in work data: 232k (219 in Q4'22). Unemployment rate 4.3% (5.4% Q4'22) with 10k people unemployed. Much lower incomes still a big issue (see other CSO releases), but strong job quantity data.
Underinvestment in higher education in the SE region persists. Brain drain effects continue unchecked has (64% leave/36% stay), Government yet to invest in the technological university project, with no game-changing actions (new courses, disciplines or buildings).
Comparative health data is similarly very difficult to obtain. We use two methods (baseline pop. & A&E presentations) as proxies for demand/hinterland. Of the 8 Model 4 hospitals, SE fairs very poorly for resources.
Yesterday @DeptofFHed announced the devolved grant for universities- funding maintenance & campus upgrades. Despite SETU being singled out in the PfG, this welcome funding is the lowest per head (excl. TUD with new GDA-funded campus).

Speculation that one of the largest #FDI projects ever contemplated in the #SouthEast will be scaled back and might move to Dublin. Big news if it happens. https://t.co/4EBQwkNTTF
