@wazzo_m@CityWestminster@LondonInBloomUK@LondonGardenSoc Our northern summers are changing too. I’m experimenting too as there are things that would never last a winter that are coping well now without fleece. The watering is a battle even using p4 on planting it’s becoming challenging balancing watering with other work and budgets.
@wazzo_m@CityWestminster@LondonInBloomUK@LondonGardenSoc ? Do your cannas and feature plants get used and stored over winter ? I provide displays in the north east for local authorities and this year has been a struggle keeping plants alive. We can usually water twice a week but it’s been 4 times a week for the last month.
@wazzo_m@theroyalparks@idverdeUK @TRPGuild7 @ThorneyIslandSo@LondonInBloomUK Yes there’s a big difference I visit London each year for Chelsea and Hampton court shows and Regent’s Park and Kensington gardens are always on my visit route. They are usually a few weeks ahead of us up here on growth as well as when you plant out summer displays.
@greensjungle @GWandShows@The_RHS @BotanyRocks @WildlifeTrusts@SomersetWT@HTAnews@PeatFreeApril They claimed on the podcast that Canada has over 250 million acres of peat bogs and it grows multiple times faster than they harvest it. I don’t know the full facts but was a good listen and an Interesting take on it as all we hear is the negatives but could there be positives ?
