Community security starts with listening. Dialogues in Kwale and Kilifi are creating space for communities to identify emerging security concerns, share experiences, and develop practical solutions together.

KCYPS, @SFCG_Kenya and @KECOSCE advanced courtesy visits to key stakeholders, engaging the @NSCpeace and to the Mombasa County Commissioner sharing conflict brief and laying ground for EWER meetings with security stakeholders ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Action Life Kenya, through the Mwanamke Imara Jamii Bora Program, convened a multi-stakeholder community dialogue in Mkomani Ward aimed at strengthening community resilience, promoting peaceful coexistence, and preventing violent extremism.
The dialogue brought together the Area Chief and Assistant Chief, the Lamu Central Probation Director and Probation Officer, religious leaders, and Wanawake Imara Champions in a collaborative discussion facilitated by Rehema Mgiriama.
Participants reflected on the recent rise in violent confrontations involving young people wielding machetes against one another, noting that such incidents not only threaten community safety but also increase the vulnerability of youth to radicalization and violent extremism as they seek revenge and a sense of belonging.
The forum also explored the growing influence of social media and emerging technologies, particularly the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate and spread extremist narratives, misinformation, and harmful content that can fuel violence and manipulate vulnerable individuals. Emphasis was placed on strengthening digital awareness and empowering communities to recognize and counter online threats.
In addition, the dialogue addressed Gender-Based Violence (GBV), highlighting available reporting and referral pathways, survivor-centered support, and the collective responsibility of community members to prevent and respond to all forms of violence.
The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen collaboration between community members, women leaders, religious institutions, probation services, and security actors to enhance early warning and early response mechanisms, promote social cohesion, protect vulnerable groups, and foster a peaceful, resilient, and united Mkomani Ward.
Together, informed communities, empowered women, and coordinated local leadership are the foundation of lasting peace and resilience against violence and extremism.

Freedom of religion begins with the freedom to gather, worship, and belong.

We officially handed over a dedicated community tent at IFO Camp in the Dadaab Refugee Complex, creating a safe and inclusive space that advances Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB)

This new community space changes that. It provides a secure environment where women and other members of marginalized religious communities can freely discuss freedom of religion or belief, strengthen social cohesion, and engage in shared challenges that cut across faiths.

While the project is nearing its conclusion, the partnerships, skills, and commitment it has nurtured will continue to drive efforts toward a more inclusive, peaceful, and equitable society where everyone can freely practice their faith or belief.
