North Carolina is now being warned by Governor Josh Stein about a $2.8 BILLION budget shortfall over the next two years.

That’s not a small gap. That’s a structural problem.

And here’s the part people keep skipping over:

North Carolina has had a long run of Democratic governors —
including Roy Cooper, who is now running for U.S. Senate after serving two terms, and now Josh Stein.

So this didn’t happen overnight.

This is the result of years of decisions.
Budgets passed. Priorities set. Promises made.

Now the bill is coming due.

Here’s what that means:

• A shortfall like this forces hard choices — fast
• Spending gets cut, taxes go up, or both
• And everyday North Carolinians feel it first

Every program expansion.
Every new commitment.
Every dollar spent.

It all has to be paid for.

Now we’re looking at a $2.8 billion gap and one simple question:

Who’s going to pay for it?

And what gets cut when the money isn’t there?

This isn’t abstract.
This is your taxes. Your services. Your state.

North Carolina doesn’t have the luxury of ignoring a hole this big.
