Most wildfires in California — about 95 percent — are caused by people.
That means our actions can help prevent the next fire.
Mow Smart, Park Smart and Tow Smart to reduce the risk of an accidental spark igniting dry vegetation and threatening nearby communities.
Every year, fires are started by mower blades striking rocks, hot vehicles parked over dry grass, and tow chains dragging on the roadway. These are all activities that would spark a wildfire under the right conditions.
Help stop the next fire before it starts. One less spark means one less wildfire.
Happy Back-to-School Week, San Francisco! Back to school means more than backpacks and schedules. It’s also a good time to make sure your family knows what to do in an emergency.
Ask your child’s school or childcare provider about their emergency plan, including how they’ll communicate with families and where reunification would happen.
Then make a plan at home: decide who can pick up your child if you can’t, choose an out-of-area contact, and make sure everyone knows how to reach them.
Finally, make sure you’ll get the message. Sign up for your school or childcare provider’s alerts and turn on notifications. Create an AlertSF profile at https://t.co/gWkXFFDgtL and add your child’s school or childcare address so you can receive emergency alerts for that area.
