Today we celebrate #BiVisibilityDay
As an inclusive employer we want our staff to work in an environment where they can be themselves.
We want the communities we serve to know that whoever they are, we will treat them with dignity and respect. #bivisibilityday2023#sfrs
Stonewall research published last month exposed that almost half of bi men (46%) and a quarter of bi women (265) aren’t open about their sexual orientation to anyone in their family, compared to 10% of gay men and just 5% of lesbians #bisexualawarenessweek2023#SFRS
A #Stonewall survey found many bi staff don’t feel safe disclosing their identity at work & that only 28% of respondents strongly agreed that they would feel confident reporting to their employer if they were a victim of biphobic bullying or harassment #biawarenessweek2023#SFRS
For #BiWeek, join our Bi Network Co-Chair Nancy Carter and bisexual author @drjuliashaw as they chat bi visibility, community & equality. 💗💜💙

What is Biphobia?
Biphobia is the dislike or fear of a person or a negative attitude towards bi people or a person/people who are perceived to be bi.
#bisexualawarenessweek2023#SFRS
There’s often a stereotype of Bi people being 50% attracted to their own gender and 50% to other genders, so people may not recognise themselves as being part of this community due to this misconception. #bivisibilityweek2023#SFRS (2/2)
A UK study (YouGov, 2019) found that one in four people place themselves somewhere between completely gay or completely straight. So, a quarter of people have an identity that falls under the Bi umbrella, perhaps without even realising it. #bisexualawarenessweek2023#SFRS (1/2)
#bisexualawarenessweek is an annual event observed in September to celebrate and recognize the bisexual community. Events and activities mark the week to promote bisexual visibility and acceptance. #SFRS
Bi is an umbrella term used to describe romantic and/or sexual attraction towards more than one gender. Bi people may describe themselves as a wide variety of terms, inc but not limited to: bisexual, pan, queer #biawarenessweek2023#SFRS
