YVS highlights the wide range of roles within SFRS, and youth volunteers get to meet and learn about some of these specialist teams as part of the syllabus, including water rescue, operations control, search and rescue dogs, and the major incident unit.

Youth Volunteers learn life-saving first aid skills as part of YVS and support SFRS by passing these onto the public.
Some youth volunteers have found themselves having to use these skills in real-life situations and were recognised for this at the Awards in November.

YVS Peterhead recently had the pleasure of receiving a £300 cheque from WC Mike Bremner from Turriff, which was raised during their Christmas collection. The cheque was presented to Youth Volunteer Cameron Coutts and Scheme Coordinator Robbie Sturrock. A massive thank you!
👏 I loved hearing about the shared Youth Voluntary Services Scheme, which clearly means so much to those who provide it, as well as the young folk who’ve benefitted and given their time to their community.
It was great to learn how many young women have been involved, too!
Three youth volunteers from @DumbartonYvs competed in @ukroorg Festival of Rescue in Portsmouth this weekend. @UKFireCadets Casualty Care Challenge saw groups dealing with a casualty care scenario. We also saw rope rescue and vehicle extrication challenges.
Well done girls!
A very interesting evening getting a tour of the SFRS National Training Centre. The YVs got an insight in to the range of training facilities available to firefighters. A big thank you to Area Commander Hill for facilitating a very informative visit. @MartyHill74
