Old collections, new surprises! Volunteers have been busy sorting a big collection of lithics & we couldn't believe it when this Neolithic carved stone ball emerged!
Originally from Aberdeenshire, t'was 1 of >100,000 finds collected by Henry Stopes in the late 1800s #FindsFriday
Cataloguing some Iron Age animal bone from Prestatyn, Denbighshire and gasped when I noticed this butchered red deer femur - look at those cut marks! The fracture! 🍖
Such intimate details of everyday life in the past make archaeology so special ❤️

📢TREASURE FOUND ON ANGLESEY
This is the first hoard of Iron Age gold coins to have been discovered in Wales.
The coin hoard comprising fifteen gold coins known as staters was discovered in Llangoed Community, Anglesey.
