In Washington, D.C. last week, I joined the annual conference for Consuls General, Honorary Consuls and members of the Consular Council representing French citizens abroad across the US. I was glad to share our dynamic communications strategy.
Following the announcement of the forward deterrence by the President of the Republic, a deep dive into the history (and coherence) of French deterrence.
"The Law is the expression of the general will. [...] It must be the same for all, whether it protects or punishes. "

France allows that free speech thingy, but our justice system ensures that actions that are illegal offline in France are also illegal online in France. Let the courts do their job. #NoOneAboveTheLaw
Tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. We will continue to stand united and coordinated in our response. We are committed to upholding our sovereignty.
Statement by 🇩🇰🇫🇮🇫🇷🇩🇪🇳🇱🇳🇴🇸🇪🇬🇧
As members of NATO, we are committed to strengthening Arctic security as a shared transatlantic interest. The pre-coordinated Danish exercise „Arctic Endurance“ conducted with Allies, responds to this necessity. It poses no threat to anyone. 🧵⬇️
We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland. Building on the process begun last week, we stand ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we stand firmly behind. 🧵⬇️
We did it.
Today, the High Seas Treaty enters into force.
It is a tremendous victory for the oceans, for life, for humanity.
The high seas will no longer be a Wild West open to predation: they are becoming a space of shared responsibility.
From 8 countries in 2024, to 60 States committed in 2025 at the Nice Ocean Summit, to 83 today, the community of nations has kept its word.
Together, we are giving ourselves the means to protect 30% of seas and oceans by 2030—more than half of our planet’s total surface.
This is the result of an exceptional collective mobilization led by negotiators, scientists, and citizens, all convinced that the future is built together. I want to thank them.
It is the choice of responsibility over indifference, cooperation over isolation, the honor of humanity over the disorder of the world.
When we come together around what truly matters, we prove that progress is possible. So let us continue. Together.

France is committed to the sovereignty and independence of nations, in Europe and elsewhere. This guides our choices. It underpins our commitment to the United Nations and to its Charter.
It is on this basis that we support, and will continue to support Ukraine and that we have built a coalition of the willing for a robust and lasting peace, to defend these principles and our security.
It is also on this basis that we decided to take part in the exercise organized by Denmark in Greenland. We fully assume this decision, because security in the Arctic and at the outer edges of our Europe is at stake.
No intimidation or threat will influence us—neither in Ukraine, nor in Greenland, nor anywhere else in the world when we are confronted with such situations.
Tariff threats are unacceptable and have no place in this context. Europeans will respond in a united and coordinated manner should they be confirmed. We will ensure that European sovereignty is upheld.
It is in this spirit that I will engage with our European partners.
