A Technical Working Group meeting was convened to support the development of the Long-Term Care Strategy under the Strengthening Gender Inclusive Initiatives Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank.
During the meeting, members of the working group reviewed and discussed the preliminary findings of the rapid appraisal conducted for the elderly needs assessment. Participants also exchanged insights and recommendations to help shape a comprehensive and sustainable long-term aged care strategy that responds to the evolving needs of older persons in the Maldives.

A team from the Strengthening Gender Inclusive Initiatives Project, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), visited Addu City from 30 June to 2 July. During the mission, the team met with the Addu City Council and the Women's Development Committee to provide updates on the construction progress of the Domestic Violence Shelter and the grant program currently open to civil society organizations.
As part of ADB’s safeguard compliance requirements, the team also conducted an information session for the contractor and facilitated a public consultation on the shelter’s construction. The consultation provided an opportunity to engage stakeholders, share project information, and gather feedback from the community.

Today, together with the judiciary, we concluded the National Family Mediation Training of Trainers Program with 25 participants. Over the past 7 days participants gained knowledge and skills required for family mediation. Congratulations to all the participants. Together with judiciary we have taken a significant step and we look forward to continuing this collaboration to build stronger families.
