Women are being detained, protesters are being fired upon, and basic freedoms are being crushed. The people of Herat who stood up against injustice deserve solidarity, not bullets. Afghan women deserve rights, dignity, and freedom not oppression and fear.
A new academic year has begun in Afghanistan, yet girls are still denied their right to education. The Taliban’s extremist ideology continues to block progress and equality. This injustice cannot be accepted, and meaningful change in governance is urgently needed.
Five years in a row, girls above grade six in Afghanistan are banned from school under Taliban rule. Gender apartheid has become state policy. The world watches as basic human rights are erased. Afghan women deserve education, dignity, and freedom, no culture justifies oppression.

The continued restrictions imposed by the Taliban are not just policies — they are a direct attack on basic human dignity. Banning women from parks and silencing their voices in public spaces is an attempt to erase them from society altogether.
A society cannot function, grow, or prosper when half of its population is excluded from everyday life. Parks are not political spaces — they are places for families, for children, for peace. Denying women access to such simple freedoms shows how deeply unjust these decisions are.
Women deserve to be seen. Women deserve to be heard. And no authority should have the power to take that away.

Before taking power, the Taliban carried out brutal attacks that killed thousands of innocent Afghans and brought pain and suffering to families across the country. Their violence destroyed communities, schools, hospitals, and the hopes of people who wanted only peace and stability.
Now, after more than four years in power, they have turned Afghanistan into a prison, especially for women and girls. They have made daily life a struggle under fear, oppression, and silence.
They have banned girls from education, prevented many women from working, and imposed severe restrictions on freedom of movement and participation in public life. Through these cruel policies, they have stripped women and girls of their most basic human rights.
By denying women and girls their rightful place in society, they are destroying the future of Afghanistan. The world must not stay silent.

@AuafAlumni are left behind in a city surrounded by those sworn enemies of @AUAfghanistan whom spared no one when they attacked AUAF in 2016. Some managed to leave while some are left behind. Our institution has limited help. We need assistance! #EvacuateAUAFAlumni
