@SGetset @DanielMumby I challenged cllr cavill and thought his poor irish accent impression During the item on gypsies and travellers was in very bad taste and harking back to offensive stereotypes i hoped we had moved on from years ago . Im proud of my Irish heritage and was disappointed by this.

@RossHenley @DanielMumby Thank you Councillor @RossHenley for that. I am of Irish heritage too and when I was told about this, I was very annoyed. I am hoping that Cllr Cavill is asked about his behaviour and his behaviour..would he do this to any other nationality? Really poor judgement.

Hi @DanielMumby I’m just asking about last nights Taunton Deane scrutiny meeting. It has come to light that local Conservative Councillor Caville seemed to indulge in Irish stereotyping, putting on a faux Irish accent during a speech about Gypsies buying up land. Any coverage?

@DanielMumby Strange as someone who was at the meeting told me that he had indeed put on an Irish accent like a bad 70s comedy in order to make a point about Gypsies/travellers. I think another councillor did bring this up at the time. If true, I think it’s very poor. Could you ask him?

Very disappointing in this day and age that local Somerset @TauntonTories @Conservatives are using negative racist, anti Irish stereotypes during a speech at Council scrutiny meeting. Really dark ages stuff. Would he do this with any other ethnic minority? It’s not humour!

No comment yet from Somerset Tories at all on how the Getset process was so spectacularly mishandled? Consultation findings now being acted on after so many experienced staff have left the service. Shambolic mismanagement. Children are now less safe in Somerset because of it.

The Conservatives think they are “fixing mess”. The reality is that they got the decision/process on Getset spectacularly wrong. The findings of the consultation now acted on long after many experienced staff have left,taking redundancy. Children are less safe now because of it.

The new findings of the GETSET consultation came long after so many of the experienced staff had left for other jobs under threat of redundancy. How come you got the order of process so wrong? Only the Conservatives at County Hall in Somerset could do such a dramatic u -turn on gritting and then claim it wasn’t actually a u-turn. They are a bunch of bluffers and charlatans. Well done @MikeSRigby and @RossHenley for pursuing them to change their minds.
