The 1st Tank Battalion of the 5th Heavy Mechanized Brigade has shared some very interesting details about the Ukrainian Leopard 1 MBTs and some upgrades in an interview with @Oboronka1.

Apparently one heavily up-armoured Leopard 1A5 withstood the impact of 52 (!) FPV drones over the course of a full day this February, with all crew members surviving the Russian attack. Another interesting fact was shared about upgrading the Leopard 1A5s.

@CharityPrytula is funding a proposal from the 1st Tank Battalion to retrofit an in-house 360° view into the Leopards. The system itself consists of four cameras and a single 10-inch monitor, through which the commander can see everything happening around him. The cameras were mounted on the turret, and for reliability, the footage is transmitted to the turret via cables.

Thanks to Starlink terminals installed on each tank, the footage from the cameras is uploaded to the battalion's command post, where the officers in charge are now able to more effectively assist the tank commander in carrying out his mission and warn the crew of approaching enemy drones.

Currently, the first 10 Leopard 1A5s are being equipped with these systems, which interestingly only cost about 40,000 hryvnias (€800) per unit.

@Jeronimooo326 Δεν ξέρω που τα είδατε τα ζωντανά χωριά στη Σερβία, αλλά εκτός της Βοϊβοντίνα, όλα τα χωριά μοιάζουν εγκατελειμμένα. Τα κτίρια είναι με τα τούβλα και μόλις σκοτεινιάσει είναι μέσα στο σκοτάδι. Το Paracin, με πληθυσμό όσο το Αίγιο, ήταν μετά τις 9 έρημο.

@Vasilis_V82 Με 2εκ. ανά μονάδα κόστος είναι πολύ πιο συμφέρον να πάμε σε προμήθεια FFG ACSV G5 με εγχώρια συμπαραγωγή, ειδικά για μια προμήθεια της τάξης των 500-600 μονάδων.

Ukraine has used an AI-based drone for the first time, — Minister of Digital Transformation Fedorov.

The drone carries two FPV strike drones up to 300 km. They autonomously find and hit targets, from enemy aircraft to air defense and critical infrastructure.

If within 100 km, the drone returns for reuse.

One mission costs $10,000 that is 300–500 times cheaper than a missile.

All this without GPS. The SmartPilot system uses visual-inertial navigation with cameras and LIDAR. AI identifies and selects targets on its own.

@FlightsSlow Ενδεχομένως η ανάπτυξη ενός περ/νου πυρ/κού όπως το ιρανικό 358 ή 359, το οποίο θα φέρει στην κεφαλή του πολλαπλά εκτοξεύομενα υποπυρομαχικά που θα δημιουργούν νέφος σφαιριδίων είναι μια λύση. Αλλιώς πάμε σε χειριζόμενα με ΑΙ πυροβόλα που κάνουν tracking με παθητικούς αισθητήρες.
