This is an act that Siam itself has acknowledged as respecting the ceasefire, loving peace, respecting international law, and honoring the agreements reached in the GBC meeting. Hundreds of armed invading soldiers, carrying maps drawn by Siam itself, attempted to bring in razor wire to encircle and seize Cambodian territory in Prey Chan village, O Bei Chanh commune, O Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, on September 17, 2025.

Thailand has violated the ceasefire agreement by arresting 20 Cambodian soldiers (and shooting two others whose conditions remain unknown—whether dead or alive) under the pretense of inviting them to shake hands and take group photos. Thailand’s actions constitute a breach of the Kuala Lumpur ceasefire agreement and are in violation of international law, specifically the 1949 Geneva Conventions concerning the treatment of prisoners of war (POWs). Cambodia must gather evidence in order to condemn Thailand for committing war crimes.

Thailand promised to return all 20 Cambodian soldiers since July 30th. Yet as of today, August 1st, only two have been sent back and both in a broken state. Why the delay? What is happening to the remaining 18?

The two soldiers returned were not in the condition they were taken. They are severely wounded and mentally traumatized, one is now confined to a wheelchair, unable to walk or speak.

Thailand claims they were “taken care of”but is this what “care” looks like?

Let’s be clear: these men were not captured in combat. They were healthy, on regular border duty afer ceasefire. Ask yourself: could a soldier who can no longer walk or talk have been patrolling the frontier?

They were lured under a flag of truce, by a handshake after a ceasefire. That is not a military victory, it is a cowardly act of betrayal.

This is not diplomacy. This is deceit, abuse, and a violation of basic human rights. Cambodia and the international community deserve answers, not silence.
