그는 자신의 30대를 가리켜 “수없이 뜨거웠고, 수없이 좌절했으며, 수없이 도전했던 시기”라고 정의했다. 젊은 청년에서 진짜 어른이 되어가는 과정, 40대로 넘어가기 위한 일종의 발악이었다고 고백했다. 지창욱은 “30대 때 했던 작품들을 보면 두서가 없기도 하고, 누군가는 왜 저런 선택을 했을까 묻기도 한다. 하지만 나중에 60, 70대가 되어 돌이켜본다면 정말 재미있는 시도와 노력을 많이 했구나 싶을 것”

— director Jung Jiwoo explained why he didn’t allow ji chang wook to watch the monitor during filming:

“when actor ji chang wook watches the monitor, he understands extremely well the various elements that the environment on set calls for. he calculates things from a directing perspective and I noticed this from the very beginning of filming. he would notice things such as ‘It might be better to slow down the pace of the walk here’ ‘It would be better to turn my head here’ or ‘the sound will be picked up better this way.’

ji chang wook is also an exceptionally talented director in his own way. I didn’t want him to worry about things that he didn’t need to worry about, so that was why I stopped him from watching the monitor.”
