Old H-2 pilot; Washed up & revamped (semi-retired) rocket scientist, doing space electronics. Had trouble teaching your kids math, physics, and chemistry π
After having put down both dogs recently, and with the cougar issue (see old pinned tweet in replies of current pinned tweet)
My wife has been wanting dogs to keep critters away. We lost 2 more chickens to a bobcat after our dogs were gone - down to a tortoise and a cat
Except for the foster puppies π
"They're only temporary, we give them back*
So, we currently have mom and 11 puppies. Oh the drama! Prob keeping mom (Juneau) and "Rocky," ** the most rotweiller looking pup
Prob 3 dads - here's my breakdown of the 11 pups:
Heiffer - white with black spots; runt
Spot - white with one big spot, next door neighbor plans to adopt & call her Grace
Rocky - my keeper, Rott dad (see pics)
Rocky Lite - Rott with white on paws and chest
Guido - Big tan, largest & fan fav (#2 keeps having me take pics with him)
3 "otters" ^^ - Guido-like with various lite levels of brindle
Midnight - darkest brindle
2 "brindles" - 2 others besides Midnight
^^ As tiny pups the otters had more brindle than they do now, hence my nickname
** Our dogs have been named for US mountain ranges. First dog was Sierra, then Nevada and Apple. Rocky's name has been waiting for him. Others were all female. Nevada means snowy in Spanish and she was a very dark German Shepard mix (more black than snowyπ)
[The pics have text for who's who]
@KelseyTuoc I maintain 4 is a tipping point to better
However, my kids like to reminisce about "Home Alone" moments
*apparently she has left #2 and driven off more than once*

She always goes back π
@eigenrobot If you're interested in possible solutions, or reasonable expectations if we keep kicking the can down the road
I rec reading @JessicaBRiedl
I'll try to explain why insovency is "made up"
Tax payers are responsible for all govt outlays, so if previous years SS covered some other parts, can we expect those other parts to cover SS going forward**
*NO*
Only 2 ways this happens: 1 raising taxes; 2 selling more bonds (increasing debt) - 3 cutting the overall budget is extremely difficult bc of how little is descretionary
**Technically possible, by working #3 and doing something crazy like eliminating our military
@politicalmath I'm sorry but I find Newsome lambasting Trump funnier than anything Trump doesπ€·
*Trumps partisan** hackery humor reminds me of Jon Stewart, who I also never liked*
**Unlike most partisans, Trump is just pro-Trump
@MasterTimBlais Rather skip one goofy hypothetical poll, or 5,000 goofy hypothetical polls
*That's it, after 5,000, hypothetical polls go extinct!*
[Does the quality of an analogy matter if the subject matter is not real?] π€
@zeta_globin Pre-LLM guess with answer:
Figuring it was warmer with more CO2 - I have no idea when the Devonian was, btw (kinda matters re what life is doing to the atmosphere, though)
Geminiπ
*more CO2, less O2, but plants are changing that*
bonus -> compare that climate to today
