1st Principle -December 26- Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

#Kwanzaa is a cultural holiday that celebrates African heritage and identity. The name comes from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza," which translates to "first fruits," and the holiday is based on traditional African harvest festivals. Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26th to January 1st. Each of the Kinara candles has a special meaning. The black candle symbolizes the African people, the red their struggle, and the green the future and hope that comes from their struggle.
