Celebrated our inaugural graduates of the Sam Houston Regional Education Consortium Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship. This collaboration between the SHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and Huntsville Memorial Hospital is a win for all!
Our campus is one of the most gorgeous, idyllic places to live and learn. Summer may be a little slower, but exceptional instructional opportunities and research activities continue year around. #LuckyMe
I love this portrait of Sam Houston that hangs outside my office. In a letter he wrote to his son, he said “Knowledge is the food of genius, and my son, let no opportunity escape you to treasure up knowledge.” Good advice, sir. Good advice.
Today we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. I am grateful they chose to serve. I honor their ultimate sacrifice and pray for comfort for their families who miss them everyday. #MemorialDay
My son’s family thrilled me with this card yesterday because I used to read the Mama Llama books to all the kids in our family. They remembered! My son also remembered the other favorite books we read every night when he was a kid. Reading matters! #MamaLlamaRedPajama
I took this photo for someone today and forgot to post it (I posted the selfie I took with them). Posting this for their benefit. Always glad to show off our Bearkats!
Spring 2026 commencements are a wrap! This week of graduating, recognizing, commissioning and celebrating is the highlight of the semester! Congratulations, graduates!
Congratulations to all of our Spring 2026 graduates. Each ceremony reflects the hard work, resilience, and determination that brought you here. We are proud of all you have achieved and look forward to what comes next. Congratulations!
Great crowd to watch 400 students walk under the Blatchley Bell Tower this evening. So much achievement reflected in this celebration! Love our new Bearkat tradition.
Meet our Morkie, Finley. She’s excited for our students who are getting their Sam Houston State University class rings in two ceremonies today. Bet there will be some picture taking in the new Jim P. Ferris Family ring Plaza. Celebration Day!
It was super fun to celebrate SHSU’s best in the country Orange Pride Dance Team. Coming back from nationals as double Grand Champions is an incredible achievement! 👏🏻
Met the @SamHoustonState ROTC cadets & cadre this morning to watch their PT session & finish #SamSwitch commitments. I enjoyed spending time with these great leaders. #PresidentKalebBrown
Tonight’s all-choir concert was a wonderful mix of voices & styles. Cool to see so many music faculty supporting their colleagues and students cheering on their friends. I’ve watched some of these students perform for 4 years & will be honored to see them at commencement!

Another great night of entertainment at SHSU. Opera made accessible left the audience laughing and applauding wonderful comedic performances and exhilarating vocals. So fun!
Today we gathered for Raven’s Call to honor and celebrate the lives of students, current and retired faculty and staff, and alumni who are gone but not forgotten. Once a Bearkat, always a Bearkat.
SHSU wind ensemble gave a brilliant performance tonight. Several instrumental and vocal performances to go this semester, and I encourage the community to give them a try!
