UPDATE: An Australian man has admitted to killing a 17-year-old girl in a Pattaya condominium before stuffing her body into a suitcase and dumping it near railway tracks, police said.

Police said the suspect, 46-year-old Simon Peter Carman, was initially arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport while attempting to leave Thailand. He was later taken back to Pattaya for questioning.

During interrogation, he reportedly confessed after being confronted with CCTV evidence, but claimed the incident occurred during a struggle and insisted it was self-defence.

He has been charged with four offences, including intentional murder, concealing a body, and offences related to a minor, and has been remanded to court.
