Regularise Train Services for Passenger Convenience in Karnataka

For years, passengers traveling within Karnataka have been relying on the Vijayapura-Mangaluru, Vijayapura-Yasvantpur, and Hubballi-Bengaluru trains, which have been running with special fares under the "train on demand" status. These services have been a lifeline for many, especially those who rely on convenient and affordable transportation for daily or occasional travel. It's time to call for the regularisation of these crucial train services to better serve the growing number of passengers in the state. Though SWR has proposed for regularisation of these services long back for unknown reasons these services are yet to get nod from the railway board till today.

In addition, there are several passenger trains operating with "0" as their starting number in the SWR (South Western Railway) system. These trains serve intermediate and smaller stations. Regularising these services would greatly benefit countless travelers who have limited transport options.

We request @AshwiniVaishnaw to notify these services as regular trains at the earliest. Thank you

Bagalkot-Kudachi New Line project Status as on Nov 2024

Monthly Status:

1) In Khajjidhoni - Lokapur (7.3 Kms) section, commissioned for goods traffic on 10.09.2024, CRS is planned in Dec-24.

2) EPC tender was awarded for the section between Lokapur - Yadwad (23 Km) on 31.05.2023 and earthwork is in progress.

3) EPC tender for works between the section Yadwad - Jamkhandi (25 Km) was awarded on 04.06.2024 and initial planning is under progress.

4) EPC tender for the sections between Jamkhandi - Harugeri (37.6 Km) is planned to be called after completion of resurvey of land which is in progress between Km: 72/000 - 97/000 (Mudhol - Malapura, Shirol-1, Huliyala, Siddapura, Shirol -2, & Kallahalli villages).

5) For the section between and Harugeri - Kudachi (19.7 Km ), EPC tender is proposed to be called by Dec 24 pending acquisition of balance land by GoK.

6) For the financial year 2024-25, an amount of Rs. 250 Cr. is requested from GoK vide letter No.W.63/CN/BNC/Bud/E8193 dated 19.03.2024.

7) A meeting was conducted by GM/SWR with CS/IDD/GoK on 19.09.2024 to expedite the land acquisition of new line projects and other issues involved in the cost sharing projects

Background Information:

1) Khajjidhoni - Lokapur (9 Kms) - Work is under progress and is targeted for the financial year 2023-24 with ABS system.

2) EPC tender was awarded for the section between Lokapur - Yadwad (22 Km) on 31.05.2023 and planning work is in progress.

3) EPC tender for works between the section Yadwad - Jamkhandi (24.6 Km) was floated on 03.08.2023 and bid opened on 15.02.2024 and the entire land has been handed over in this section.

4) EPC tender for the section Jamkhandi - Jagdal (17 Km) was floated on 05.09.2023 with bid opening on 03.04.2024 and the entire land has been handed over in this section.

5) EPC tender for the section Jagdal - Suttati (28.5 Km) was floated on 13.10.2023 with bid opening on 30.04.2024.
